Year 2 have been learning about St George and the dragon.

This week in Literacy, Year 2 have been learning about the legend of St. George and the Dragon.  They have practised their reading skills, as well as finding information from the text.  They have developed their understanding of adjectives and how they can use them in a sentence to help the reader to be able to imagine the characters and what is happening in the story.  I was very impressed by the very interesting words the children used, for example: dangerous, destructive, frightened, vicious, ferocious, ancient and courageous!

The children retold the story in their own words, as well as writing their own version of the story which included a ‘twist’.

In Art, the children designed their own dragon, thinking carefully about its size, shape and colour.  They paid very close attention to the detail of the dragon and their drawing and I was very impressed with their artwork.
