Celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee

“As you know we are now part of Bishop Hogarth Trust. As part of the Academy we have already been part of some fantastic events to commemorate the Queen’s Jubilee. Some of our year 5 and 6 children went to St. John’s to sing the Jubilee anthem ‘I Vow to Thee my Country.’ Although the words were changed to fit the Trust virtues of justice and compassion, honesty and responsibility, respect and self belief, confidence and resilience. We have also taken part in another fantastic event with every school in the Trust decorating a jigsaw piece to represent their school. These were reassembled during an assembly with every Trust school represented. Thank you to two of our Year 6 pupils who came with me on Tuesday to represent our school. The event had a lot of important visitors with Lord Lieutenant Snowdon, Dame Maura Regan (Our Trust CEO) and the Mayor of Darlington, along with the press. The laying down of the jigsaw was videoed via drone and we have been informed that the video of the choir singing will be shared with us once it is complete.

The Lord Lieutenant was so impressed she said she was going to ensure that the Queen herself would be given copies to see and hear.
Well done and thank you to all involved.”
